The short answer
Size is only part of the price. The biggest variables are usually the condition of what is there now and how much preparation it needs, followed by the finish you choose.
That is why we do not publish a one-size price. Measure your area, send us a few photos and we will give you a clear, itemised quotation.
Resin driveways
The size and shape
More area means more material and labour, but shape matters too. Curves, steps, narrow paths and lots of edges take longer to lay than one open rectangle.
What is there now
This is often the biggest factor. A sound, level tarmac or concrete base may be suitable to lay over after repairs and preparation. A cracked or failing surface, loose gravel or a lawn needs digging out, waste removed and a new base built, which adds time, materials and skip or grab lorry costs.
The base and drainage
A permeable build-up, new edging, channel drains or changes in level to stop water running towards the house all affect the cost. They also matter for planning rules on front gardens.
Your choice of finish
- Aggregate: natural gravels, marble, quartz, glass, recycled and specialist blends all vary in price.
- Resin: UV-stable resin is used for light and bright colours so they do not yellow.
- Design: contrasting borders, banding, patterns and logos take extra time.
- Extras: dropped kerb applications, lighting, steps and edging details.
Access
Easy access for materials and equipment keeps things simple. Restricted access, long barrow runs or traffic management on a busy road add time.
Epoxy and industrial floors
- Area and layout: one large open floor is quicker per square metre than several small rooms.
- Floor condition: cracks, holes, joints, old coatings and contamination such as oil all need dealing with first.
- Moisture: damp concrete can cause coatings to fail, so moisture is checked and may need a suitable primer or membrane.
- Preparation: diamond grinding or shot blasting gives the coating something to grip. It is essential, and it is never the place to cut corners.
- The system: roller coats, decorative flake, metallic, self-levelling and heavy-duty systems differ in build, materials and time.
- Performance needs: anti-slip, chemical resistance, line marking, coving and drainage details.
- Downtime: working in phases, evenings or weekends to keep a business running can affect the programme.
